Background:
In response to the Syrian crisis, KAFA (enough) Violence & Exploitation is working to reduce the risks and incidence of gender-based violence and improve the medical, psychological, social and legal counselling services for Syrians and Lebanese women & children residing in the different regions of Lebanon.

Job Description:
Within the project “Support Services to Syrian and Lebanese Women victims of GBV” supported by the UNFPA, KAFA is looking for a Social Worker to support the provision of direct services and care to GBV victims and survivors.

Key responsabilites:

The Social Worker will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator to whom he/she will report. The social worker would work within the ethics, values and principles of KAFA’s Listening and Counselling Center. More particularly, the social worker will:

  • Contribute to setting up policies and procedures for the provision of service and care of GBV victims and survivors;
  • Provide listening and counselling services to women victims of violence and provide case management for every beneficiary (on the social, economic and psychological levels);
  • Fill-in intake questionnaires for the beneficiaries and timely keep case records, and document the calls received from victims of GBV;
  • Refer the beneficiaries, when needed, and coordinate with family medicine doctors, forensic doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists, and other frontline personnel;
  • Maintain and develop cooperative working relationships with relevant service providers (national and international), community centers and organizations, governmental institutions, companies and local businesses etc.; to enhance work opportunities and cover complementary needs of the women and children beneficiaries of the project;
  • Organize and follow up group activities for the beneficiaries such as Art and Drama therapy sessions; Coordinate and organize awareness raising sessions on different topics related to GBV;
  • Contribute to the dissemination of the services offered to victims and survivors of GBV through establishing networks and preparing and distributing informational and media materials;
  • Contribute in writing evaluation and periodic progress reports and assist the Project Coordinator in establishing monitoring and evaluation indicators in light of the objectives and expected results of the project.
Key competencies:
  • University degree in social work, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience with NGOs in community based work, preferably in relation to gender-based violence
  • Excellent oral and written communication and writing skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team, and under pressure;
  • Knowledge of and commitment to gender equality and gender-based violence;
  • Knowledge and skills in computer usage including power point and social media;
  • Readiness and fitness to commute between different regions in Lebanon;
Contract terms:

Period: Immediate recruiting for an eight months contact renewable upon provision of funds.
