The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands, ACSAD issued recently a new scientific publication ‘The Olive Tree, Techniques of Growing and Production’. The book covers the following subjects: the importance and physiological structure of an olive tree; descriptive ABCs of an olive tree and types grown in most prominent world countries; methods of improving productive capacity of olive trees; environmental requirements and basics of planting, agricultural services, integrated protection management, manufacturing of olives and olive by-products. On the occasion the Director General of the Centre, Rafiq Ali Saleh noted that olive tree is a renewable natural resource and a strategic and viable agricultural option for extensive stretches of land in arid and semi-arid areas. “And while providing a primary source of food, it also secures employment, provides industrial inputs and contributes to export revenues and foreign exchange”, he added
