In the framework of preparations for the forthcoming Anuga 2017 trade fair in Cologne, Germany, (October 7-11), the chairman of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) Nabil Itani, met with the Syndicate of Owners of Food Industries to discuss participation and ways to improve access of made-in-Lebanon goods to Europe. Itani in this respect stressed the importance of IDAL’s backing for the largest number of Lebanese companies to partake in similar exhibitions, namely in Europe, which is especially promising in terms of the size of its markets, and the presence of a considerable Lebanese and Arab communities. In addition, Itani stated, such exhibitions extend the opportunity to explore the latest packaging and production technologies and the needs of the market, as well as, provide a platform of exchange between exporters and commercial centers in the Old Continent. Itani made clear that many Lebanese food products now enjoy international quality and food safety standards and are highly competitive which facilitate their entry to multiple world markets. To note, the Lebanese pavilion at Anuga will open this Saturday October 7 in the presence of Lebanon’s Ambassador to Germany, Dr. Mostafa Adib. (Al Diyar, October 5, 2017)
