For the first time in its history, Lebanon’s women junior handball team has made an accomplishment by qualifying for the 2020 world championship to be held in Romania. To note, the team has reached the semifinals of the 15th Asian women’s junior championship organized at Hatem Ashour Hall in Beirut. The top scorer in Lebanon was Gillesavita with 10 injured. Recalling, Lebanon’s junior handball team is the second Lebanese team after the basketball team which reaches the world championship in all team sports. The president of the Lebanese Federation said that this achievement is the outcome of the Federation’s work at the age group level, and that it would build on this to improve the game. For her part, minister of interior, Raya Hassan, congratulated the young female players in a tweet saying they have raised the challenge and exhausted the modest potentials at hand to promote Lebanon, the smallest Asian country, to the world championship. Similarly, Prime Minister Hariri stressed his support for the team in the upcoming 2020 championship, praising the achievements of the team’s members.
