SoUK.LB to financially support social enterprises
The UK has launched the SoUK.LB project to help entrepreneurs make social change with a positive impact, and gave one week for those who wish to apply for a grant to kick off and stimulate the growth of their social enterprise. A British Embassy statement on Friday said that as part of its long term investments in the Lebanese economy, this pioneering social entrepreneurship hub seeks to promote the creation of jobs in the country. The British Embassy is expected to support this new initiative with USD 15,000 to USD 40,000 grant per finalist with the aim to promote and strengthen the unique and growing sector through backing enterprises targeting transformational social or environmental change. The statement stressed the UK’s commitment to Lebanon’s stability and security and its belief in its prosperity given the country’s long history in trade, business and entrepreneurship. To note, shortlisted applicants will be provided with the required training, mentorship, and grants will be given to finalists.
