BLC and economic empowerment of women

The chairperson of BLC Bank Nadim Kassar stressed yesterday the need to focus all local and international efforts to motivate the private sector and the business community to empower women, economically, and to give them equal rights at par with men. Kassar was speaking at a roundtable organized by the annual UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2018 in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting. The summit gathered heads of state and government and key players in the business community and civil society, noting that Kassar is the only banking leader attending from the MENA region. The roundtable saw debates on issues such as human rights, promotion of gender equality as well as, internal and external efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, (SDGs) 2030.
