Former Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, demanded yesterday an investigation into strip search accounts involving a group of former female prisoners who posted shocking videos on social media exposing degrading or detailed search practices during detention. Oglu said he watched the videos and demanded accountability for those responsible, advising that those testimonies could be supported by surveillance cameras in prisons, describing them as a stigma or disgrace. Oglu said should he be in power today, as a president, prime minister or any position, he will immediately communicate with those abused women. And if what they testified prove to be true, everyone who is involved in the ill-treatment shall be held responsible. If the president is entitled to protect and defend his people, he is duty-bound to call on these women and listen to their grievances, irrespective of their political affiliations, Oglu concluded.
