The Minister of Education Hassan Diab assured that public schools will not discriminate between Syrians or Lebanese students and that all student applicants will receive equal treatment.
Diab indicated that school books for up to the 9th grade level (Brevet) will be provided to all students of public schools for free; thus abiding by government policies on compulsory and free basic education.
The Minister further stated that tuition fees should not increase as long as the draft law regarding the new salary scales is not endorsed by the Lebanese Parliament. The private sector should adhere to the current regulation and particularly the decree no. 515.
The Minister of Education assured that 50 per cent of the budget allocations to support public school funds will be transferred at the beginning of the school year.
