In its issue of April 15, L’Orient Le jour daily newspaper highlighted the start of the second cycle of the UK Lebanon Tech Hub (UKLTH) international accelerator program and the Beirut-based startup accelerator, SPEED, to step up the development of entrepreneurial ventures. In this respect, SPEED has received the second new batch of startups and the UKLTH said it will receive candidates throughout this week, at the end of which 30 shortlisted enterprises will join a three-month training course. Besides, the newspaper mentioned that the Ecole Superieure des Affaires (ESA) in Beirut has announced last March the launch of ESA SMART business incubator expected to start work this year. ESA SMART is financed and supported by the French Embassy, the Bank of Lebanon and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paris. For more on the subject, L’Orient Le Jour interviewed one beneficiary, Rida Sadek, who stressed the importance of such programs which help translate an idea into a tangible business. For his part, Faris Kobeissi, founder of Bluering, the developers and implementers of banking applications, maintained that the training at UKLTH has helped him develop his enterprise.
