Trial of Ethiopian housemaid allegedly involved in the death of child Rakan in later 2014

The Criminal Court of Beirut began the prosecution of the Ethiopian domestic worker in the case of the alleged murder of 4-year old Celine Rakan in October of last year. Judge Helena Iskandar summoned the defendant Bezoihou Niga Pilai (31 years) for questioning but the latter’s attorney asked for deferral until after her request is met, which is to get copy of the video containing audios before, during and after the death of the child. In light of the above, the Court decided to adjourn the proceedings until next October 1st. (Al Mustaqbal, 3rd June 2015)
