CRTD.A || Rural Women Cooperatives participate in Vth World Congress of Agronomists in Quebec || 17-21 Sep. 2012

A selected number of Rural Women Cooperatives, members of the Namlieh Marketing Cooperative, took part in the Vth World Congress of Agronomists and Agrologists organized in Quebec City between 17 and 21 October.  This initiative was undertaken within the framework of the Collective for Research and Training on Development – Action’s (CRTD.A) Rural Economic Empowerment of Women Project.  
The Conference discussed various challenges facing sustainable development and food security worldwide such as the vulnerability of the eco-system, weaknesses in agricultural production as well as ways and strategies to address world hunger.  The Conference on the international community to develop a road map for guiding international efforts to combat shortage in food supply as well as pursue the millennium development goal to decrease poverty rates by half by 2015.
