The WIDE Network is a European feminist network of women's organisations, development NGOs, gender specialists and women's rights advocates. WIDE considers the global crisis as a possibility to critically assess current economic system and to make gender-equal and socially just alternatives more visible in order for these to be progressively addressed as good practices to be converted into public policies. Taking this vision as our starting point, we identified our Short-Term Strategy Goal (STSG) for 2009 as follows: to use the crisis to de-legitimise the current neo-liberal economic and trade system from a feminist perspective. All the activities carried out in 2009 by WIDE were in accordance with this goal.
