The book explores what men and women think and say about local constructions of masculinity and feminity and how these affect their daily lives. The authors draw on surveys using people -centered methodology to illuminate these constructions. The book shows what gender means to people and how it is perceived to be changing in nine countries. Added to that the authors present a synopsis of key historical, political, and economic features for each country to contextualize the findings.
