L'Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD) is a French development organization operating in the field of international solidarity. It has been operating in Lebanon since 1989. Today, IECD and its local partners implement several Training and Professional Integration, Support to Small Enterprises and Access to Education and Health Care projects.
The situation in the local labor market and especially the high rate of unemployment had previously led IECD and its partner, Foyer de la Providence, to intervene conjointly in the promotion, development and implementation of vocational education curricula in the industrial field. They developed as well a specialized school “Mosaik” targeting students with learning disabilities.
The IECD in partnership with Foyer de la Providence and its two entities Mosaik and Trait d'Union is now launching a new project. The overall objective of this project is to increase the employability of young people in Lebanon, especially those most vulnerable, by developing their hard skills, soft skills and improving their access to information.
One part of this project is based on the implementation of adapted vocational trainings (VT) and productive workshops. Those trainings will offer to vulnerable youth an opportunity to develop their technical capacities in an environment adapted to their special needs. The implementation of those trainings will rely on the experience of the Foyer de la Providence (Mosaik special needs school and Trait d'Union ressource centre), Arcenciel, Skoun and IECD. For each of those training, the curricula will be adapted to the specific needs of the students and the trainers will be trained to the adapted teaching techniques.
