The minister of economy and trade, Alan Hakim, revealed yesterday the presence of over 10 thousand women-run companies, mainly in the beauty, medical and cosmetics sectors. Hakim was speaking at ‘the woman entrepreneur, a creative woman’ conference organized jointly by Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in the Middle East, Berytech, L’Orient Le Jour daily and Le Commerce du Levant magazine. The event was held at the Campus of Innovation and Sports at Saint Joseph University, Beirut, on the occasion of a visit to Lebanon by La Franchophonie secretary general Michele Jean. Hakim stressed the need to draw incentive focused plans in the area of strategic activities that help in the development of the role of women entrepreneurs and inspire new investments. To conclude, Hakim underlined the significance of investing in the potentials of women owners of businesses in order to step up the pace of economic development in social responsibility.
