House Speaker Nabih Berri yesterday stressed the need to engage women in all the constituent parts of the State and society, especially at the economic level. Berry was speaking during a meeting with a delegation of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) led by Nayla Qmeir Obeid, whom he congratulated for what he described as an ‘honorable’ election as member of its executive board. Recalling, that on May 21, the Nominations and Human Resources Committee of the ICC Executive Board met in France and appointed Obeid on May 29 for a three-year term starting July 2019. Obeid’s election is the outcome of a long career in law and arbitration, both academically and professionally, noting that she was elected earlier this year as president of the International Arbitration Institute(IAI) for one year, becoming the first Arab woman for the post.
