The Chair of the Board of Ibdaa3 financial support to micro-enterprises, Ahmad Tabbara, organised a press conference last week in Beirut with the participation of the vice Chair of AGFUND Nasser Al Qahtani to announce the end of the first phase of the association’s programme in Lebanon as well as the inauguration of the third branch of Ibdaa2 located in Beirut suburb of Khaldeh following the set up of the Borj Hammoud and Kaskas branches. The speaker also revealed that 1000 persons have actually benefited from the services of the association since its start up in July 2012.
Tabbara noted that financing micro enterprises entails providing direct support to families who are unable to approach banks for business loans in addition to providing them with the possibility of lending with small interest rates coupled with other forms of support so as to allow them to develop productive activities and expand their micro businesses. He also noted that micro lending plays an important role in the war against poverty by increasing economic efficiency, household income, ensuring food security and improving the health and educational conditions of family members.
It is to be noted that Ibdaa3 is a non-profit financing institution which seeks to increase the productivity of the poorest families as well improve their livelihoods.
