Implementation of National Action Plan on Women
UN Women organized yesterday a round table for donors to discuss ways to support Lebanon’s government in ensuring all necessary procedures for putting into effect the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security approved by the Lebanese cabinet on September 12 (see news: https://bit.ly/2kkHhna). On the occasion, the National Commission for Lebanese Women, NCLW, President, Claudine Aoun Rukuz, stressed in her speech that the above plan constitutes a real challenge in itself, but its implementation is even more challenging as it requires coordination and synergy between all involved parties, including public departments, civil society, ministries, UN agencies, donor countries and international organizations. “In light of Lebanon’s financial crisis, we should join forces and make the most of international backing in the form of activities within the framework of the strategic priorities for the national action plan,” Rukuz concluded.
