The representative of the president of the Mexican Legion of Honor, Jorge Cruz Bermudez and Leila Matta, president of the World House of Lebanon, handed Betty Hindi the annual order legion of honor during her participation in the Diaspora Energy Conference 2017 in Cancun, Mexico. This, to note, is unprecedented for a woman from the Middle East region. The legion of honor marks the culmination of long struggle in defense of the rights of Lebanese expats and more than 10 years of hard work with the countries of residence of Lebanese immigrants in an attempt to bridge relations between the Diaspora and Lebanon in various world states, namely in Mexico, Australia, American, Brazil, Europe and Canada. Meanwhile, the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Fusher, handed the highest order of honor to Sister Mariam al Noor – Antoinette Aweet, the head of Carmel St Joseph School in Meshref. The French President has earlier issued an executive order to grant Sister Aweet, and solely, the Legion of Honor, on the occasion of the French national Bastille Day on July 14. Fusher praised the exceptional work of the honoree on the level of education and the Christian-Islamic dialogue, as well as, for her efforts in the service of the Francophone principles and promotion of the unique model of Lebanon as the country of coexistence and diversity.
