Ministry of Social Affairs funds 18 women projects with Italian aid

The Ministry of Social Affairs issued a statement declaring that it has financed 18 small projects proposed by women municipal council members and spread all over Lebanon.  This decision was taken within the framework of Promoting women's participation in local governance and development project which it is implementing with funding from the Italian Embassy in Lebanon and the office of Italian cooperation for development.  The successful projects were chosen based on criteria set by the Ministry in collaboration with the development cooperation office while they seek to promote equality between women and men through economic empowerment of women and the strengthening of governance and participation in decision making.
These projects are now operational as the Ministry has already delivered the first round of financing during a meeting held yesterday at the Ministry with the presence of women municipal council members whose projects were chosen.
