The Ministry of Public Health is launching today its National Public Health Strategy in some 170 health centers. The Strategy involves a large number of public and non-governmental organizations and seeks to facilitate access to primary health care, enlarge the network of operation primary health case centers, and decrease the overall health costs. According to the General Director of the Ministry of Public Health, the Strategy will also improve coordination with the NGO sector as well as the quality of health services especially since it will involve house calls, early detection and improving the referral to public hospitals. Ammar also added that this strategy will allow the improvement of health care interventions and referral calls as well as post-hospitalisation follow-up of patients and strengthening the joint drugs programme with UNICEF and YMCA. The budget of primary health care services will be increased and will represent 2% of the total budget of the Ministry of Public Health. The Minister of Public Health indicated that his Ministry will enact new laws to upgrade the condition of primary health care centers.
