The presidency of the Supreme Council of the Arab Women Organization (AWO) has been transferred to Lebanon, represented by Claudine Aoun Rukuz, according to a statement by NCLW media bureau yesterday. Rukuz became the head of the Council for the next two years succeeding Omani Sheikha Aisha Bint Khalfan Siabiyah who chaired the Council for the past two years. In a tweet on the occasion, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said: “We are proud of Lebanon’s presidency of the AWO Supreme Council, looking forward for further achievements for Arab and Lebanese women.
