The National Bloc Party elected yesterday Salam Yamout to head the party to succeed Carlos Edde and will be sworn in on Wednesday. Yamut, born in Beirut in 1963, holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona, US and an MBA from ESA Business School, Beirut. She served as the Regional Bureau Director, Middle East for the Internet Society, from 2016 and was the National Information and Communications Technologies Strategy (ICT) Coordinator at the Office of Prime Minister Saad Hariri for 6 years. She founded several associations, most notably ‘Women in IT’ and is the vice president of LLWB. (An Nahar, December 17, 2019)
